That makes no sense. The guy that exchanges the Armbraces says they can only be found by guys who killed Whisper guys. It'd make no sense for them to have some special mythical coffer with an armbrace of their dead friend.
But then again, such things happen.

The infamous Foundry conquered.
I've done the stygian with my ranger trapper, not with this monk.
Well, I'm sure we can complete Stygian in 3 hours or so this time.
There were some trials and error, and learning the map last time, so being familiar with the map this time around, I'm sure we can cut down the time spent. Less time kiting, more time killing.
Then, we head off to go face-to-face with Mallyx himself.
Can't wait to see what kind of hell awaits us there! XD

Ah the domain of anguish. Seems this thread is separated into those who succeed, who are acting extremely elitist and putting down the players who cannot manage to win. I find it rediculous how many times someone has repeated something along the lines of "this is an elite area. dont play it." To those of you saying this, you are taking the meaning of the word elite far too literally in this context. As far GW is concerned, "elite" simply means any player who has managed to succeed in playing through the game and gained a decent base of experience with their profession by doing so. Keep in mind that the deep, urgoz, underworld, and fissure are all considered elite areas, and any average player can have plenty of success here with a good leader.
However, for the new elite area, this is not the case. I have been able to succeed in several parts of the mallyx quest with my usual group of good friends. We have all been playing for a long time, and it is safe to say we are probably more "elite" than 95% of the playerbase. Even though I've had success in Anguish, I find it to be quite poorly made.
First off, it really limits a player to certain builds and discriminates against other classes that dont fit the ideal team build. In any other elite area (lets assume as a warrior), you could go in with a fairly basic build and do alright. From there you would work on it and refine it to the point where you have a very functional build. The key part here is that you were having fun doing it, where as in Anguish, if you don't got it, you're toast in seconds.
Second of all, as it is right now, each of these quests takes a VERY long time to complete. I know with time, people will succeed faster and faster, but my main problem with Anguish is the HUGE waiting times between pulls due to the patrol formations (that is unless, you pull like a moron and enjoy making things much harder for yourself). I know I sure as hell don't like spending 4 hours and feel like I'm hardly making any progress. At least in the other elites, 4 hours would get you somewhere, thus making it more fun.
Last but not least, it seems most of the battles are just completely redundant. With a good team like mine, it isn't challenging as long as we put in the time to do things carefully, but the way Anguish is laid out, this becomes a VERY tedious task.
To wrap things up, I don't think DoA is too hard. I just think Anet was trying so hard to make it difficult for average players that they just made it repetitive and boring. I know I sure didnt have any fun in my run through foundry last night. I guess I might as well get on vent with my buddies and we can just all watch paint dry... it would at least be more fun than the DoA.
Once the novelty of this place wore off... I started questioning whether if it was even worth this boring grind to even get to the elite mission. Hell if i wanted hours upon hours of pointless slow grind, I'd go buy WoW... and I know I'm not the only one.
GG Anet, you really let us down with this elite area.

This is only true for PUGs.
Organized groups/guild groups will run completely different builds, which are also at least twice as fast. They do rely on team play, strategy, tactics, positioning, and optimal gear. The last isn't even required, but it helps a lot.
The builds that are currently accepted and sought after are slow, but somewhat reliable and simple to play. But they aren't even remotely the best.

CustoMeX, the builds are NOT limited.
We did not want to force our members (all friends, no PuG) to use a diffrent character or build, one of them only had a Warrior for example. (which was hard to contribute in gloom, but he did great spamming draw condition off our geotank, essence bond for infinite ene )
There are certain builds that works better than others, but I'm telling you, your character's movement and positioning, and kiting is far more important than minor details of your build.
A lot of people are horrible at managing aggro off them, and getting into the correct position. This is far, far, FAR more important than builds.
I know many PuGs discriminate builds, but do you see them beating the quests? No.
No grinds are required. Just proper understanding of the PvE behavior, and what skills enemies have.
Lightbringer Rank? Not important.
Minor details and diffrence in build? Only slightly important.
Your teamwork and ability to understand PvE AI, and control your characters? VERY IMPORTANT.

And this is where you're wrong. Those that succeed don't say 'don't play it' to people who are posting in this thread. They say 'Don't play it' to people that are bitching they can't play DoA because of time issues. To others, they say, 'Don't whine, get off your lazy ass and keep trying, we did the same'.

In Urgoz you can't even join a team with a Warrior, in The Deep you need a very specific build and you need to be either a Warrior, Monk, Elementalist or Necro. In these missions, getting past even the first rooms with a random PuG is hardly possible, so I don't see how DoA is more "limiting".

Yeah...DoA allows much more flexibility than Urgoz and The Deep. Warriors are laughed at as such in the Urgoz outpost, because B/P and trappers are the only two team builds people run (even though, a stance tank with a bonder should be quite possible). And in The Deep, you have to use the very specific W/A Recall build, if you want to get into PuGs...

I never played any of the canthan elite areas, but DoA isn't that much limiting, teamwork and communication beats most problems without relying on builds.

Good job! Just wondering, how many quests are in the Foundry? I went there with a group and we were doing extremely well until someone got hit with Error 7. Then things started to fall apart. We were on the second quest where you have to rescue the Forgotten being held prisoner when Error 7 hit.

Well, after you've cleared all the rooms and made it to the final area, rescued the 3 Forgotten, you then run towards the back exit and kill a miniboss followed by The Fury and his mob.
By the way, I know of at least 2 groups that completed The Foundry 2 or 3 days ago - I finally ran through it yesterday afternoon.
